Never even thought of getting a float tube until I started fly fishing with Tenkara backpacking. But after stopping at beautiful lakes and seeing all the trout rise out in the middle, I knew I would have to figure a way to get out there. I had considered other lightweight belly boats. But after seeing this bad boy “Slash” with Dave sitting out of the water and only his shins and feet in the water… I was like yeah! If I didn’t have to pack in wadders also. The extra few pounds was a go!
Like the tube, works well. However, I purchased this for packing in to wilderness lakes based on the claimed weight of 9 lbs. When the shipment was 24 lbs, I was immediately skeptical, and after opening the box I realized there was no way it was 9 lbs. My scale shows 18 lbs for tube only, didn’t weigh the gear bags, seat and pump, but add those and you’re over 20 lbs. Still like the performance. Gear bag attachment could be improved. Overall satisfied.
I needed a tough one man craft for fly fishing the challenging Texas waters. We have stumps, Water Lilly's, and alligators. This one is light enough that I can get from pond to pond (tank to tank) will little effort. I did buy a comfortable set of shoulder straps from another Vendor, in an effort to make the short trip easier. I've owned this craft for almost a year now, and can highly recommend it to any of my fellow fly fishers.
